Rights of Members

Participation in Governance
Every member in good standing shall have the right to attend General Body Meetings, receive notice of meetings, and participate in discussions. - 
Voting Rights
Every member in good standing shall have the right to vote in General Body Meetings and in elections of the Society, subject to the provisions of these bylaws. - 
Eligibility for Office
Every member in good standing shall have the right to stand for election or be appointed to serve on the Board of Directors, committees, or other positions of responsibility within the Society, in accordance with eligibility requirements. - 
Access to Information
Members shall have the right to access the Society’s annual reports, audited financial statements, and minutes of General Body Meetings, subject to reasonable procedures adopted by the Board of Directors. - 
Use of Facilities and Programs
Members shall have the right to participate in the programs, activities, and services of the Society and to use its facilities in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors. - 
Freedom of Expression
Members shall have the right to express opinions, raise concerns, and make recommendations to the Board of Directors or at General Body Meetings in a respectful and constructive manner. - 
Equal Treatment
All members shall have equal rights without discrimination on the basis of gender, age, faith, political affiliation, disability, or social status, provided that such rights are exercised in accordance with these bylaws. 
Responsibilities of Members
- 
Mission and Values
Members shall support and promote the mission, vision, and cultural values of the Assyrian Society of Canada, and shall respect and preserve Assyrian heritage, traditions, and language. - 
Compliance
Members shall abide by the bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, and code of conduct of the Society, and shall respect and comply with the decisions of the Board of Directors, committees, and the General Body. - 
Participation
Members shall attend General Body Meetings, participate in elections, and engage in programs, cultural events, and community initiatives of the Society. Members are further required to be active in at least one committee of the Society in order to maintain good standing. - 
Financial Obligations
Members shall pay all membership dues, fees, and approved contributions in a timely manner and shall support fundraising initiatives of the Society to the extent of their ability. - 
Respect, Integrity, and Honesty
Members shall treat fellow members, staff, volunteers, and the public with respect, fairness, and dignity. Members shall act with honesty and transparency in all dealings with the Society, and shall refrain from discrimination, harassment, misconduct, or any act that may cause harm to the Society or its reputation. - 
Teamwork and Professional Conduct
Members shall work professionally in team settings, act as active and cooperative team players, and foster a spirit of collaboration, mutual respect, and accountability in all Society activities. - 
Representation
Members shall represent the Society in a positive, professional, and respectful manner in both public and online forums, and shall promote unity, inclusiveness, and cooperation within the community. - 
Contribution to Growth
Members shall contribute to the growth and improvement of the Society by providing constructive feedback, sharing ideas and recommendations, and seeking opportunities to attract partnerships, resources, and new members. - 
Stewardship
Members shall use the Society’s property, resources, and facilities responsibly, and shall safeguard the reputation, assets, and cultural identity of the Society.
